Cool Roof

The extreme heat of the Florida Summer makes the operation of air conditioning systems a necessity for all Florida homes. During the summer months roof top temperatures easily exceed 100 degrees increasing energy usage and utility bills. Cool Roofs combat the intense Florida heat by using white external coatings that reflect the suns rays and reduce roof surface tempratures which reduces demand for air conditioning, resulting in lower utility bills and lower peak electrical demand.  There are a variety of Cool Roof materials and products to choose from including, Thermoplastic, Elastomeric, BUR Modified and PVC. What is a Cool Roof?

A cool roof reflects and emits the sun's heat back to the sky instead of transferring it to the building below.  "Coolness" is measured by two properties, solar reflectance and thermal emittance.  Both properties are measured from 0 to 1 and the higher the value, the "cooler" the roof.
